Conway, South Carolina – Coastal Carolina University will soon begin developing an academic center dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders in sports broadcasting. Broadcast veteran and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Collegiate Recreation Matt Hogue will move to a new position in the Thomas W. Edwards and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Arts, effective July 15, 2024. and will lead this effort. “Matt is the university’s longest-serving director of athletics and has led Chanticleer athletics to new heights,” said President Michael T. Hogue was named interim director of athletics in 2014, became director of athletics in 2015, and was promoted to vice president in April 2021. In 2016, he witnessed the Chanticleer baseball program win the College World Series championship and the university’s first national title.

A 25-year veteran in the broadcast industry, Hogue served as the “Voice of the Chanticleers” for 17 years on the Chanticleer Sports Network, where he is well known for providing live game coverage, features, and a weekly program on CCU athletics. is known.

Hogue was named the 2020-21 Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors. He is one of only four players to win this award at the FBS level. He is also a member of his NCAA Division I Baseball Selection Committee, and since August 2020 he has represented CCU and the Sun Belt Conference.

Joe Moglia will continue in his role as executive advisor to the president, but will step down from his roles as president of athletics and executive director of football once a new athletic director is installed.
