The head-to-head contest will be between incumbent General Secretary Ajinkya Naik and Vice President Sanjay Naik. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Presidential election.
The MCA had received nominations from three candidates — Ajinkha, Sanjay and Bhushan Patil of the Congress Party, who recently contested against Union Minister Piyush Goyal in the Assembly elections — but Patil decided to withdraw his nomination on Tuesday, the last day for withdrawal.
The MCA presidential elections are scheduled to be held on July 23 following the untimely demise of Amol Kale in the US on June 10.
“You know, I’ve played forward cricket and as the CoA, I’ve been a big part of the team,” Diana Edulji, former India women’s captain and MCA women’s cricket adviser, said at Ajinkya’s press conference on Tuesday. [BCCI’s Committee of Administrator] As a member, I fought for the players and for cricket and now I feel I am definitely rooting for the right horse.

“Kale and Ajinka were a great team as president and secretary. [Ajinkya] “He fully understands what Mumbai cricket wants. I am sure he can carry on the MCA tradition and maybe even improve on the Kale tradition or create a tradition of his own. We had a great season last season winning both the men’s and women’s teams,” Edulji said at a press conference on Tuesday.
When Mid-Day asked Ajinkha about his priorities if elected as MCA president, he said: “We have good infrastructure but we don’t have good infrastructure that gives you the feeling of being outdoors during monsoon.” [of practice]The vision is to go elsewhere [for camps]we will be opening our own academy of outdoor sensations in MMR, Mumbai [Mumbai Metropolitan Region] jurisdiction.”
