McDonald’s lovers can look forward to a new set menu this summer.
The fast-food chain announced Thursday that $5 meal deals will be available for purchase at participating restaurants for a limited time starting June 25, its latest effort to offer fans cheaper meals following a backlash against rising prices in recent years.

“We heard our fans loud and clear: they want more from us and this summer we’re delivering just that,” McDonald’s U.S. president Joe Erlinger said in a statement.
“Value has always been part of our DNA, and we’re focused on delivering on that tradition by offering delicious, affordable options that our customers can enjoy every time they walk through our doors, use our drive-thru or order on our app,” Erlinger continued.

What’s included in the $5 Meal Deal?
The set menu includes four items: a McDouble or McChicken, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink.
McDonald’s app users can also get a free medium serving of fries with a minimum $1 purchase during “Free Fry Friday,” a promotion that will run nationwide through the end of the year.
Franchisees across the country are also running local sales, such as a buy-one-get-one breakfast sandwich sale in Memphis, Tennessee, and a mix-and-match deal in Western New York that includes a McChicken and a McDouble for just $3.99.

McDonald’s leaders prioritize affordability
During an earnings call earlier this year, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski emphasized the importance of affordability for customers.
“Consumers are becoming more selective with the dollars they spend as prices rise on everyday expenses, which is putting pressure on the industry,” Kempczinski said. “It’s essential that affordability for customers remains a top priority.”
