As Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, prepares her latest acquisition, many are confused as to what is coming out of her. At first, everyone assumed she would launch a range of specialty jams to rival those of the royal family, then came the cooking show, podcast, and now, it looks like Meghan will be launching her first wine line.
While the cooking show and podcast are on the way, it looks like the first release for Meghan’s brand, American Riviera Orchard, will be a rosé wine, a line that many celebrities have jumped into. And insiders claim that her jump into the business will leave some people, including friend and neighbour Cameron Diaz, in a bind.

“She knows the wine market is lucrative,” a source close to Meghan’s latest project told Life & Style magazine. “It seems like a total money-maker.”
“Meghan is pulling someone else’s leg,” they said, noting that Diaz runs the same business with her own brand, Avalin. “It’s pretty brazen to step into her space. Meghan doesn’t seem to mind being in competition with her friend.”
Other stars who have similarly turned to the business include Jon Bon Jovi, Sarah Jessica Parker, Brad Pitt and Snoop Dogg.
“She and Harry don’t earn the consistent money they need to continue living a lavish lifestyle and their future depends on her success. Meghan really feels like this is a life-or-death situation,” the source added.
News of Meghan’s rosé wine first came to light in June 2024, when a source told the Daily Mail that she would be launching a wine line. “The first batch to be launched is expected to include drinking and serving tableware, bar essentials and other products related to hosting and hospitality. Expect classic yet pricey style items.”
(Meghan’s old blog Tig Her name is a reference to Tiganello, an Italian red wine that she loves, but she chose rosé because it was reportedly her drink of choice on her first date with Prince Harry.
For those wondering, “Since when have Diaz and Meghan been besties?” the answer is “yes.”
Not much is known about their friendship, other than that they were photographed together on a double date in spring 2023, per Hello magazine, and that they even flew on Diaz’s private jet at one point, per Marie Claire. Plus, they’re neighbors in Montecito!
