Altoona lost in the semifinals
BELLEFONTE — Brayden Hatch had two hits, including a double, Brody Dull came in as the winning pitcher in relief and Altoona beat Centre County, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the Babe Ruth Under-14 State Tournament.
Braden Pike and Jordan Goodson scored for Altoona.
Altoona then lost to Mifflin County, 10-8, in the semifinals, despite Mifflin scoring six runs in the fifth inning, and was eliminated from the tournament.
Caleb Detrick had two hits and three RBIs for Altoona, while Garrett Reese and Vincent Albarano also had two hits each.
Despite the loss, Altoona will play in the regional tournament as the host starting July 17.

WILLIAMSPORT — Trailing 9-0, the Altoona Under-16 Babe Ruth team scored eight runs in the fifth inning and two in the top of the seventh to beat Bloomall-Newtown in the state tournament quarterfinals, but Altoona’s run ended later in the day with a 3-2 loss to Media in the semifinals.
Connor Waite had three RBIs and Drake Talco and Spencer Davis each had two hits, including a double, to lead Altoona to the comeback win. Winning pitcher Elliot McCloskey had two RBIs and pitched four scoreless innings in relief.
Adam Rooks had three of Altoona’s four hits in the loss to Media, but Media won despite only getting two hits.
