Ohio State fans haven’t been exactly happy with anything involving Michigan football lately.
Three straight wins, the Connor Stallions turmoil, the national championship, the snatching of running backs coach Tony Alford and the transfer of guard Roddy Gayle Jr. — all of this in the maize and blue only infuriated the scarlet and gray team even more.
Well, Tuesday’s news won’t help.
In a move that was entirely behind the scenes, Sherone Moore and his new Wolverines have hired former Ohio State staffer Erin Dunston as their new director of operations. Dunston is the sister of former University of Michigan basketball player and current assistant Jillian Dunston.
Lettermen Row reporter Spencer Holbrook, who first reported the news, said:
Ohio State will lose a key member of the school’s recruiting staff as rival school assistant athletic director for football recruiting and events Erin Dunston takes a job at Michigan. Letterman Row I learned.
Dunston has been with the Buckeyes since 2021 as director of on-campus recruiting, a role she was recently promoted to, and now she’s swapping the scarlet and gray for the maize and blue.
She previously worked at the University of Kansas and Purdue University. Dunston was included in On3’s “2022 Up-and-Comers and Recruiting Staff to Know.”
Dunston appears set to take on an expanded role similar to the one Christina DeRuyter held before following coach Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Sherone Moore promised to expand the recruiting department during his inaugural press conference, and he’s kept that promise by hiring eight analysts for the department, plus Dunston.
Certainly, stealing a rising star from a rival has also helped.
