Local tennis team achieves success
USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a team sport in which boys and girls come together to compete against other mixed-gender teams in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Last weekend, the local team played in Columbus, Ohio.
Team Greenmont placed third out of eight teams in its division.
Team MOVTA placed seventh out of eight teams in their division.

Parkersburg South Girls Basketball Camp
The Parkersburg South Girls Basketball Camp is open to all area boys and girls interested in basketball and will be held Monday, July 29th through Wednesday, July 31st at PSHS.
Students in grades K-1 pay $20 from 10-11 a.m. Students in grades 2-5 pay $65 from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and students in grades 6-7 pay $65 from 12:45-3 p.m.
Drinks will be provided throughout the camp and meals will be provided on the final day.
All participants will receive a camp t-shirt, as well as prizes for skills competition and being a good teammate.

Wort Volleyball Golf Scramble
The Wirt County High School volleyball team will host the Scramble on Saturday, July 27th at Mingo Bottom Golf Club.
Entry is $200 per group of four, with first and second place prizes.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. There are two mulligans per player and tea busters are $10.
There will also be a 50-50 raffle (15 tickets for $10 or 50 tickets for $20).

Tickets for the OVAC Hall of Fame are on sale now
Tickets are on sale now for the 20th Annual OVAC Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held Saturday, August 10th at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

This year’s inductees are: Libby Sheppard (OVAC Family), Terry Ratyszak (OVAC Contributor), Kim North (Media), Roger Levy (Board Member), John Magistro and Lou Noceda (Coaches), Bob O’Brien and Keith Sommer (Athletes of the 1950s), Tom “Chip” Coulter and Donnie Young (Athletes of the 1960s), Scott Barnhouse and Darrell Cheripko (Athletes of the 1970s), Arik Long and Lisa Ribble (Athletes of the 1980s), Rafael Cruz and Bobby Sismondo (Athletes of the 1990s), Ashley Dunnigan and Kinzi Terep (Athletes of the 2000s), and Alexa Abrams and Dan Monterroso (Athletes of the 2010s).
Five “The Legend of OVAC” The recipients are: Layman “Bud” Bonner, Mike Carson, Brian Jonard, Rod Oldham and Joe White. Tom Myers will receive the Dennis Magruder Lifetime Achievement Award.
