Mike Tyson says he is “100% recovered” after feeling unwell on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

In Touch Weekly reported that Tyson, 57, experienced a medical issue during the flight on Sunday that required medical attention during the flight and emergency medical treatment when the plane landed. An unidentified witness on board told the publication what happened at the time.

“Mike received some sort of medical emergency on board the plane and paramedics were brought on board,” an eyewitness said. “Before the paramedics arrived, the plane made an announcement to call for a doctor, and that message was also shown on everyone’s screens.”

Tyson addressed his situation directly for the first time in a social media message on Tuesday, criticizing his boxing opponent Jake Paul.

I don’t need to be 100% to beat Jake Paul, but I feel 100% right now.

Tyson’s agent released a statement the previous day addressing the reports and his condition, telling media that Tyson is “recovering well” after a recurrence of his ulcer.

“Thankfully, Mr Tyson is in good condition,” the statement said. “30 minutes before landing, his ulcer worsened, causing him to become nauseous and dizzy. He is grateful to the medical staff who rushed to his aid.”

Witnesses on board said passengers heard a recorded message over the intercom asking if there was medical personnel on board with about 30 minutes of flight time remaining. It’s not clear from the report if anyone on board responded. Witnesses told In Touch that paramedics boarded the plane as soon as it landed at LAX.

“They asked us to stay on the plane and they landed so emergency personnel could get in,” the witness said.[The flight attendant] “She said, ‘He’s a really important passenger and I want to make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just said, ‘Mike Tyson,’ and she nodded.”

No further details have been reported about the incident on the plane, and Tyson’s representatives did not provide any information about his condition beyond their initial statement.

Tyson is scheduled to return to the boxing ring against Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The former heavyweight champion is one of the most feared boxers in boxing history but has not competed in a sanctioned bout for 19 years.

Tyson will face Paul, who has a record of 50 wins and 6 losses with 44 knockouts. At 27, Paul is 30 years Tyson’s junior. The bout will be Tyson’s first sanctioned bout since his loss to Kevin McBride in 2005. In a statement, Tyson’s representatives did not address his position on the bout, which will be streamed on Netflix.
