Mumbai:

Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora, who is the pick of the Eknath Shinde faction which is trying to wrest back the Worli Assembly seat from Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena bloc, is accused of tyrannical policies by former chief minister’s son Aaditya Thackeray. He downplayed any talk of a “personal” dispute with him. Win the 2019 election.

However, he criticized Aaditya Thackeray and his party for failing to develop Worli, declaring that people around south Mumbai are “tired of speed-breaker politics” that hinder growth.

Mr Deora, 47, was nominated by the Sena as a Rajya Sabha member weeks after ending his family’s 55-year association with the Congress. On Sunday, he was nominated as the party’s Worli candidate to set up a big showdown with the younger Mr. Thackeray.

“This is not a personal battle…I have known Mr. Aaditya Thackeray for a long time. But in Mumbai…Maharashtra…he entered politics five years ago. When he did that, people had high expectations for him.”

“But now I think people are tired of speed breaker politics. People want Maharashtra to move forward…that’s the objective,” Deora told NDTV, along with Aaditya Thackeray and Uddhav. – Criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance led by Thackeray. Remain in power until rebellion in June 2022.

Thanks to the Shinde government’s efforts, the development can be seen in other parts of Mumbai as well, Deora told NDTV. “…Whether it’s ordinary women, people who use public transportation, or people who commute by car… there’s a tremendous momentum in infrastructure development…”

Shinde Sena leader Milind Deora told NDTV.

The former Lok Sabha MP from Mumbai (southern) has claimed the seat he won twice in the Lok Sabha and his father Murli Deora also won three times in the Lok Sabha over a “false narrative”. He slammed Thackeray and the opposition coalition. They are the ruling Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, the Sena group led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the breakaway NCP unit led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

“The Maharashtra government has performed very well in terms of social welfare and infrastructure. So the people will re-elect this government.”

Mr. Deora said of himself, “I want to serve the people. If I have the opportunity to serve through or through Congress…For me, service is service. The purpose is how to empower people. That’s what I said. That’s my goal. ”

Asked whether a victory in the Lok Sabha would give him a tactical advantage, he said: “I know this region has represented the region.” Mr. Deora is expected to file his nomination papers later today.

battle of warli

Mr. Thackeray Jr. holds Worli seat, a Shiv Sena stronghold, which will go to polls on November 20 along with 287 other assembly constituencies in the state.

However, Worli is not just a Sena stronghold.

The upscale residential area is located in Mumbai’s (south) Loksabha constituency, widely known as the Deora family’s backyard, but has been on the Thackeray-Sena side since 2014.

The NCP has held the Worli Assembly seat since 1990, except for a victory in 2019.

And Aaditya Thackeray’s narrow victory in the 2019 state elections with 65 per cent of the votes underlines the enormity of the task. The good news is that although Thackeray Sena won Mumbai (south) in the Lok Sabha elections, the difference with Worli was less than 6,500 votes.

But Aaditya Thackeray remains unfazed.

“People know…”

Thackeray, a junior, led a huge rally while filing papers on Thursday and told NDTV, “The people have realized that the BJP is a party that has made empty promises (and) they have given up on Eknath Shinde. I will stand up…” he said.

Asked about the Warri fight, he said, “You can see the reaction of the people. That’s their love… ordinary men and women on the streets are blessing me.”

The third challenger?

Raj Thackeray could be a dark horse in this election. His MNS chose not to field a candidate for Wali in 2019 out of respect for Aaditya Thackeray’s electoral debut.

But all bets are off now, especially as the narrowing gap in the Lok Sabha polls presents an opportunity to increase support. “In 2017, we got around 30,000-33,000 votes from Worli (in municipal polls). There are MNS-only voters here…,” Deshpande told news agency PTI. .
