Miss Katie’s Diner is back in the political spotlight this week.

The restaurant, at 1900 W. Clybourn St., will be part of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” “Breakfast with Friends” series during the Republican National Convention. “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Pete Hegseth will be at the restaurant Friday morning to talk to guests about the 2024 election.

The ’50s-themed Miss Katy’s has been in business for 35 years, but this is not the first time it has attracted political attention.

Other events where politicians have visited the diner include:

President Bill Clinton and the German Chancellor

In 1996, then-President Bill Clinton and then-German Chancellor Helmut Kohl stopped by Miss Katie’s for an impromptu luncheon during a presidential summit and rally at Pere Marquette Park.

At the time, owners of German heritage shops such as Mudders and Uzinger’s Famous Sausages were eager to welcome the chancellor but were disappointed when neither Mr Kohl nor Ms Clinton stopped by.

Hillary Clinton gets snowed in

During her 2008 presidential campaign trip, Hillary Clinton was stranded in Milwaukee by a blizzard, where she stopped at Miss Katie’s Diner and El Rey Foods supermarket.

According to the restaurant’s website, Clinton dined on corned beef hash and hot tea.

Michelle Obama at private lunch

Former first lady Michelle Obama stopped by the restaurant during a visit to New York in 2010 to raise money for Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold.

President Obama stopped by the restaurant for a private lunch with his cousin and his wife and their daughter.

Donald Trump stops here during the 2016 election campaign

Former president and current 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump stopped by Miss Katie’s during his 2016 campaign.

“This feels like a victory,” Trump told reporters at the restaurant, saying Miss Katy’s was “my kind of place.”

What’s on the menu at Miss Katie’s Diner?

The diner serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and also features a full bar.

Recommended breakfast menu: Corned beef hash and Italian sausage

Recommended lunch menu: Soup, daily specials, sandwiches.

Recommended Dinner Specials: Meatloaf, turkey blue plate dinner, steaks, chops, Italian cuisine.
