Minnesota Twins darkened by royalty dispute between Comcast and Bally Sports

Twins games will no longer be available on Comcast after negotiations between the company and Bally Sports owners broke down. Diamond Sports is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.

A message displayed on the Bally Sports channel for Comcast Xfinity customers addressed the conflict.

“The owners of Bally Sports are in bankruptcy proceedings and we have offered them multiple options to continue distributing their network. “We do not have the right to continue distributing the content,” the message said.

The Twins expressed disappointment that the controversy resulted in the channel being shut down, leaving fans with no option to watch the game. The team said in a statement that its hands are tied by the disagreement between Comcast and Bally Sports.

“The Twins are disappointed in this major disruption for fans who simply want to watch our games. This situation is a business negotiation between Comcast and Bally’s. The Twins are not doing anything regarding this matter. has no role or say. We hope both parties can work together to reach an agreement as soon as possible. ”

Diamond Sports Group, which owns Bally, said fans will still be able to watch Bally Sports directly on Fubo, DirecTV or the network’s streaming service.

Diamond Sports said in a statement: “We are disappointed that Comcast has rejected the proposed extension that would have kept our channel on the air and has indicated its intention to prevent fans from watching their favorite local teams.” Stated.
