HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Miss Hawaii 2023 is now Miss USA.
The Miss USA organization announced on social media Thursday that Maui resident Savannah Gankiewicz will be officially crowned in Hawaii next Wednesday.
She replaces Noelia Voight, who vacated the throne due to mental health issues.
Gankiewicz, who was Miss USA runner-up last September, will be watching over Voight’s remaining term, which lasts less than six months.
“I fully support and respect Noelia’s decision to resign. I stand in solidarity with her in raising awareness of mental health,” Gankiewicz said in an online post. “I accept this honor knowing that I have been encouraged throughout this journey by my supporters, family, friends, and the people of Hawaii. I accept this title on their behalf.”
She added, “Dear Miss USA sisters, I believe it is important to come together for the future of our organization and for our new students in 2024 and beyond. I offer my heartfelt support to our new delegates as they dedicate themselves to the state pageant. We are committed to ensuring a seamless and memorable transition between Miss USA titleholders.”
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, just days after Voight’s announcement, Miss Teen USA Umasofia Srivastava also announced that she would be relinquishing her crown, stating that her “personal values are no longer fully aligned with the direction of the organization.” did.
