MLC Elections: Polling booths set up on school holidays | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Schools and colleges serving as polling centres for the biennial MLC elections (Teachers and Graduates constituencies) on June 26 will be given holiday on the polling day. Also, teachers who are registered as voters will be given special leave. There are four MLC seats for which elections are going on – one Graduates constituency and one Teachers constituency in Mumbai. In Konkan, elections will be held for Graduates constituency and in Nashik for Teachers constituency. Counting of votes will take place on July 1. Principals must ensure that teachers are given leave to vote. TNN

UBT Sena MP Anil Parab alleged irregularities in the supplementary electoral roll prepared by the Election Commission and demanded the postponement of the elections as around 12,000 graduate voters who had been registered by party members have been excluded. Parab criticised the rejection of applications from Thackeray groups and highlighted the delay in the release of the roll along with newly elected MP Anil Desai.
