MONTANA – Local weather today began to return to spring-like conditions with clouds moving in across much of the area during the afternoon and localized thunderstorms across south-central and northeastern Montana plains. Winds increased, with gusts reaching 30 mph in many areas.

Localized thunderstorms are expected to weaken across south-central, southwestern and northeastern Montana tonight into tomorrow morning. Larger showers are expected to develop across central and west-central Montana overnight.

Missoula’s Pride Parade is tomorrow, but there’s a 30% chance of rain during the event. Heavy rain will fall across the southeastern Montana Plains Sunday evening. Rain is likely through the weekend, with a chill first in the West and then in the East by mid-week. Daytime highs will drop into the 60s F this weekend in the West and into next week in the East.

Snow is possible across western Montana on Monday and Tuesday, bringing heavy, wet snow to mountain trails including McDonald, Homestake and Lost Trail. Accumulations of 1 to 5 inches are expected.

Roads may be slippery. Please drive with caution at all times, especially in the higher elevations. Tonight’s lows and tomorrow’s highs will vary from cool to hot across western to eastern Montana.

Our 7-day planner shows cooler temperatures and a chance of rain over the weekend and early week, with temperatures back into the 70s next weekend, with Thursday marking the official first day of summer.

Above normal temperatures are expected over the next 8 to 14 days, with slightly above normal precipitation expected over the northern and eastern plains.
