STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi’s Veterans Business Outreach Center has been named Veteran Business Outreach Center of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration as part of 2024 National Small Business Week, which runs through May 4. Was chosen.
MSU’s center, one of only 28 VBOCs in the country, was honored by U.S. Cabinet Secretary SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman. Celebrated for more than 60 years, her NSBW recognizes the economic contributions of small business owners, supporters, and lending partners.
“We are thrilled that the Veterans Business Assistance Center has been recognized in this way. The team does a great job with our customers, and seeing their work celebrated is exciting for us. We are proud of this,” said Scott Groh, dean of the MSU College of Business. “Entrepreneurs and small business owners are an important part of his MSU business community, and we have resources in place to help them succeed.”
Founded in 2015, MSU’s VBOC serves the U.S. military community in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. The center provides programs and services to military, veterans, reservists, National Guard and military spouses transferring from active duty to start, grow and expand small businesses.
The center offers services such as business training, mentoring, and referrals. He also offers his two-day “Boots to Business Introduction to Entrepreneurship” course for transitioning military personnel and his “Boots to Business Reboots Introduction to Entrepreneurship” course for veterans who have already left the military.
