Topics discussed at the meeting held by the National Conference’s Working Committee on Wednesday included the current political situation and upcoming parliamentary elections, party spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said.

While the deadline for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections has yet to be announced, Sadiq said, “The Supreme Court has set September 30 as the deadline and we are working accordingly. We are also taking into account the results of the Lok Sabha elections.” On July 1, the National Conference formed a committee headed by party leader and former finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather to draft the party’s manifesto for the state assembly elections. Meanwhile, the party had announced its “constituency in-charges” for the Valley last year.
