HYDERABAD:

The Sindh Rehbar Committee has criticised the Sindh Assembly’s December 16 resolution that paid tribute to Bihari community members who fought alongside the Pakistan Army in 1971 in Bangladesh. A meeting of the committee in Hyderabad on Thursday described the resolution as part of a government plan to permanently settle immigrants in the province.

“Such a move by the Sindh Assembly is a deception against the people of Sindh and their interests,” said a statement issued after the meeting, chaired by Jeay Sindh Mahaz leader Riaz Ali Chandion. The gathering included Dr Niaz Kalani (Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz), Nawaz Khan Zaunr (Jeay Sindh Qaumi Party), and Rawal Karnani (Jeay Sindh Tehreek).

The leaders warned of ongoing conspiracies aimed at undermining Sindh’s unity, citing administrative and local government issues in other provinces.

They stressed that Sindh has existed for thousands of years and no force can divide the province.
