Reeling from a humiliating defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is set to launch a massive awareness campaign to pave the way for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections.
“The Jan Samam Yatra led by Ajit Pawar will begin from Nashik,” NCP Maharashtra unit chief Sunil Tatkare said on Sunday.
Addressing NCP workers in Nashik, Tatkare lauded Pawar for introducing Rs 1 trillion welfare projects for women, youth and farmers in the state.
Interestingly, Tatkare said senior NCP leaders and state cabinet ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Praful Patel are likely to secure a landslide victory in the upcoming state assembly elections.
“Ajit Dada “Pawar (as Pawar is known in Maharashtra) has been running an effective political campaign for the last 35 years. His opponents are trying to defame him and other leaders of the NCP. We should work to thwart these attempts. It was Ajit Pawar who brought down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government by announcing various schemes,” the NCP state president added.
Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has struck a balance between fiscal prudence and welfare schemes, he said. The election campaign led by Ajit Pawar will begin from Nashik and he will tour all 288 Assembly constituencies, he added.
