New Delhi: It’s time for exit polls after a six-week marathon election for the 2024 Indian Lok Sabha elections, the second longest general election since 1951-52. Five exit polls have predicted a landslide victory for the ruling BJJP-led NDA: Republic Bharat- P Marq (359), India News- D-Dyanamics (371), Republic Bharat- Matrize (353-368), TV 5 Telugu (359) and Jan Ki Baat (362-392).
Exit polls also predict that the NDA will win in Karnataka and Maharashtra, while the Left alliance will suffer a major defeat in Kerala. The actual results will be known on Tuesday, June 4.

The average of the exit polls put it at 142 seats.
Aaj tak Axis exit poll predicted the NDA to win 196 seats, while ABP-CVoter predicted India to win 94 seats and the NDA to win 68, News 18 reported India to win 64 seats and the NDA to win 51, while News24-Chanakya predicted the NDA to win 111 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73, and his BJP party are widely expected to return to power for a third consecutive term. The Congress party, hobbled by electoral defeats and a series of defections, is part of the opposition coalition that is facing off against the BJP.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP won a landslide victory winning 303 seats, boosting the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) tally to 352 seats. The Indian National Congress won 52 seats, while the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) won a total of 91 seats.
This time, the BJP is targeting 370 seats and, with the support of its allies, hopes to cross the 400 mark. The Lok Sabha has 543 seats and a majority is needed for 272. The results are expected to be announced on Tuesday.
NDTV has collated the first five exit polls and projects the NDA to win 365 seats, the Indian Union 142 and others 36. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major offensive in the south, exit polls predict the NDA could win up to five seats in Tamil Nadu, which has 39 Lok Sabha seats.

Exit polls have predicted an advantage for the NDA in Karnataka and Maharashtra, and a major defeat for the Left Alliance in Kerala. The Jan Ki Baat exit polls have also predicted a landslide victory for the NDA, winning between 362 and 392 seats. The opposition Indian Alliance is predicted to win between 141 and 161 seats.
