Huangshan, May 19 (Xinhua) — For more than 600 years, local villagers in Xitou township, Shu county, in eastern China’s Anhui province, have had a tradition of making fish-shaped lanterns to pray for a good harvest and good fortune.
In recent years, Xitou Town has been working to expand new business forms while protecting its intangible cultural heritage. Fish-shaped lanterns of various sizes and materials are made, exhibited, demonstrated, and sold. Other businesses are also being developed, such as study tours with themes such as intangible cultural heritage, related cultural creations, and lantern-making experiences.
