In a landmark achievement for gender inclusion in Pakistan’s public transport sector, Nida Saleh Malik has become the country’s first female train driver, operating the Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore.

Once a young girl fascinated by the sound of trains, Nida Saleh Malik has turned her childhood dream into a historic reality.

Her appointment is not only a personal milestone but also a significant step forward in breaking gender stereotypes in a field long dominated by men.

Trained as a transportation engineer, she began her professional journey with the Lahore Metro system. Her consistent dedication and strong performance earned her a place in the new batch of drivers, selected strictly on merit.

In an interview with a private media channel, she shared that her family initially had concerns about her unconventional career path, but their support grew stronger when they witnessed her determination and commitment.

Today, she drives the metro with confidence and professionalism, serving thousands of commuters daily.
