Nigeria to partner with Pakistan government for defense equipment production – Matawalle
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency Bello Muhammad Matawalle Mon, has assured the Government of Pakistan of Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate in the production of defence equipment and hardware under the newly signed Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Act.
The Minister stated this while receiving a Pakistan Air Force delegation led by Air Chief Marshal Zayem, who paid a courtesy visit to his office at Shiphouse, Abuja.
Dr. Bello noted that Nigeria’s willingness to partner with Pakistan to enhance its military needs and requirements, as well as the need for collaboration in exchanging real-time information sharing, would also deepen its long-established relationship with the Government of Pakistan.
The Minister assured the delegation that his Ministries would come up with proper documentation requirements and further initiatives that would be of great benefit to both countries.
The delegation led by Air Vice-General Zayim is in Nigeria to participate in the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Nigerian Air Force and the 3rd African Air Forces Forum scheduled for 23rd and 24th May 2024 in Abuja, with the grand finale to be held in Kaduna on 25th May 2024.
This historic event is expected to be attended by many Air Force Chiefs of Staff and aerospace industry leaders from around the world.
Earlier in his speech, delegation leader Zaim AVM said Pakistan would assist Nigeria in cooperating in the production of military equipment to boost the country’s fight against insecurity.
He added that Nigeria and Pakistan have a long-standing military relationship and stand ready to help Nigeria address insecurity through real-time intelligence sharing and training.
