The Frogs recently played in the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. The Frogs had a tough week as a team, finishing 14th out of 14 teams with 53 overs. Meanwhile, Gustav Frimotte had a great week, finishing at 9 under par, good for winning the Big 12 Co-Championship.
Frimott was 1-over through the first two rounds, but bounced back with 6-under and 4-under in the final two rounds to become the third Big 12 champion in program history. This performance was also good enough to earn him selection to his Big 12 All-Tournament team. Toby Wilt also had a strong week, finishing 7 over par and tied for 39th place individually. Andrew Petruzzelli took third place for the Frogs with a 24-over par and tied for 63rd place individually.
Frimot will have a chance to continue competing as he had a great regular season, got a start for the postseason and qualified for the Austin Regional, where he competes as an individual. This month’s Big 12 Golfer is the region’s top-seeded individual, who will compete from May 13th through the 15th at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Kleins and Namike once again put the Frogs within one point of victory with a 21-16, 21-16 straight sets victory. McTavish and Patton gave the Frogs the win, fighting back after dropping the first set to win in three sets with a final score of 19-21, 21-18, 15-8.
The Frogs faced 19th-ranked Florida Atlantic in the semifinals and advanced with a 3-1 victory. The Frogs faced Tulane in the championship meet and once again showed little stress en route to a 3-0 championship-clinching victory. McTavish and Patton helped the Frogs get off to a good start with a 21-15, 21-15 win over Tulane’s second pair. Namike and Kleins continued their dominance in the tournament with their fourth consecutive win of the tournament with a final score of 21-17, 21-11. Hamlet and Kumil then defeated Tulane’s top pair 21-14, 21-19 to seal the Frogs’ victory.
Next up was the NCAA Tournament, where the Frogs were the No. 6 overall seed and faced No. 11 seed LSU. TCU dropped the Heartbreaker by a score of 3-2, capping off a great season for the Frogs. Hamlet and Kumil gave the Frogs an early 1-0 lead with a 21-17, 21-18 win in the only matchup in which all three sets were decided.
LSU fought back with two straight wins, with Kleins and Namike coming from behind to win with final scores of 17-21, 21-16, and 15-12, tying the score at 2-2. Unfortunately, the Frogs were unable to score the final point as LSU won in three sets in the last matchup. The Frogs now have a 29-8 record and are CUSA’s top team in the regular season and tournament in their first year in the conference, capping off a highly successful season.
