BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — Instant Landscaping is holding a grand re-opening on Saturday, May 25th.th It’s been more than a year since the historic Nels Andersen Farmhouse, located at 63291 Nels Andersen Road, relocated the historic building to a location out of the way of the new Highway 97.
The event, part of National Historic Preservation Month, will feature live music by the Desert Sands Band, free hot dogs and door prizes.
The farmhouse was built by Bend pioneer and Danish immigrant Nels Andersen. Mr. Andersen arrived in Bend and applied for a homestead in 1915. He founded Lilly Dairy, named after his bride Lillian. They lived there until he built a Tudor-style stucco house in 1929 and sold the property to the Vladetic Brothers Dairy in the late 1940s.
Tim and Julie LaRocco, owners of Instant Landscaping, have rescued Andersen Farmhouse twice. Shortly after purchasing the home, they embarked on an award-winning restoration, which was repeated in 2022 when the home was threatened by the ODOT Highway 97 realignment project.
Wolfe House and Building Movers worked with the entire Instant Landscaping staff to relocate the farmhouse 700 yards north to its current location.
