Nouvel and Valley Lutheran alternated in the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 4 rankings.
After Friday’s game, it may be Nouvel’s turn again.
On Friday, Nouvel scored the only goal of the Tri-Valley Conference showdown in a 1-0 win.
In the second statewide poll, Nouvel was ranked 14th in the state, but in the latest poll, Valley Lutheran replaced Nouvel in 14th place.
Nouvel’s Kelcy Berthiome scored the only goal of the game with a free kick in the first half.

Mount Pleasant Invitation: Frankenmuth’s 3,200-meter relay team broke a 34-year-old record and led the Eagles to first place at the Mount Pleasant Invitational with 131.5 points. Heritage was his second (104) and Petoskey was his third (100.5). The 3,200 relay team of Mary Richmond, Lucy Conzelman, Natalie Foltz and Caitlin Miller won in 9:36.24, breaking the old school record of 9:41.30. Konzelman won the 800 meters (2:24.18) and Richmond won the 3,200 meters (11:27.06). Madison Patten led the Eagles (10-0) to victory in the pole vault. Jordyn Young and Willow Mason paced the Hawks, with Young winning the 100 (:12.8) and Mason winning the 200 (:25.65). The two also ran on teams that won the 400 relay (48.81 seconds) and 800 relay (1:44.19) at Heritage. Mount Pleasant’s Lauren Gilbert took first in the 100 hurdles (:16.30).

Mount Pleasant Invitation: Frankenmuth scored 134.25 points, beating Heritage (97 points) and Davison (91 points) to win the team title, but Heritage’s Javis Neal dominated the competition. Neal added to the Heritage team where he won the 100 meters (11.13) and 200 meters (22.36), the 400 relay (43.47) and he won the 800 relay (1:31.11). Nicholas Coleman, who also competed in the 800-meter relay, added a win in the 400-meter relay (50.40 seconds), and Heritage teammate Kenny Lewis won the 800-meter relay (1:57.61). Frankenmuth’s Landen Wise led the Eagles with a win in the 1,600-meter relay (4:30.09) and a good leg in the winning 3,200-meter relay (8:06.15). The Eagles also had wins from Cougar Clark in the 3,200 meters (10:02.96), Derrick Simmons in the shot put (57-10.5) and Niko Mamaladze in the discus (155-5). Franceco Lee of Saginaw United took the lead in the high jump with a score of 6-6, and Mount Pleasant’s Zay McGinnis won the long jump with a score of 21-1.

Millington 15-18, Valley Lutheran 0-1: In Millington’s Game 1 win over Valley Lutheran, Morgan Matusik pitched a no-hitter with six strikeouts, and in Game 2, Alexis Hudy and Olivia Jones combined for two hits. Matusik, Lily Damm and Kendall Payne each had four hits in the doubleheader to lead Millington, with Damm scoring six runs. Payne hit five shots and scored six points.
Hemlock 15-15, Carrollton 1-0: Carly Noyes won the opening game with one hit and nine strikeouts in five innings. Noyes and Lillian Martinez each had two hits, with Noyes having four hits and Martinez stealing three bases. Kayla Konopf won the second game, allowing one hit and striking out five. Claira Salo, Martinez, and Lacey Harry led the offense with two hits each.
St. Louis 14-16, Harrison 4-6: Paige Lunek led both wins for St. Louis with nine strikeouts in the first game and five strikeouts in three innings in the second game. Lunek and Halle Hoyt each had three hits in the opener, and Kennady Henry and Emma Seleski each added two hits. In the second game, Seleski had three hits, and Monica Boley, Lunek and Morgan Leonard each added two hits.
Caro 16-18, Vassar 2-0: Natalie Hollein, AJ Leamy and Lily Jobson had hits for Vassar in the first game, and Hollein, Addie Kodrick and Carly Fessler added hits in the nightcap.

Heritage 13-1, Lapeer 9-3: Hudsen-Hammond pitched three innings of relief in the opening game and earned the win, leading Heritage to the Saginaw Valley League victory. Jace Sullivan led the Heritage attack with two hits and three RBIs, and Drew Schaefer added two hits and two RBIs. Schaefer had a double and an RBI in the Game 2 loss for the 7-7-2 Hawks.
Alma 6-11, Chesaning 5-10: Alma broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the sixth inning and picked up the first of two nonconference wins by one run. Blake Laskowski and Brady Sager each had one hit and two RBIs for the Indians. Alma led 10-2 and led 11-8 in the second game, but Chesaning’s rally fell short. Sager, Nash Wendling and Luke Barta each had two hits for the Indians, who improved to 7-5.
Caro 10-13, Vassar 1-2: Ramon Zamora Jr. allowed two hits and had 11 strikeouts in Caro’s 10-1 win in the opener. Landin Stein and Xander Grice led the offense with two hits each, with Grice stealing four bases. Zamora Jr. added a double and triple. Mason Allard won Game 2 with 4 innings and 8 strikeouts. Zamora Jr. led the Tigers with four hits, four runs scored, and four stolen bases. Valin Buniak added two hits and two RBIs. Cheven Lesko and Trevor Gleason each had two hits for Vassar.

Midland High 3, Flushing 0: Midland scored three goals in the first half, while Alana Beckett, Kennedy Emeott and Lizzie Striebel scored for Chemix. Kennedy Thurlow and Striebel had assists, and Niobe Marchalant and Cady McPeak shared goals in the shutout victory.
Ovid Elsie Invitation: After losing 5-0 to Fowlerville in the Ovid Elsie Invitational, Ithaca tied Ionia 4-4 before winning 3-1 in a shootout. Emily Ahern scored all four of Ithaca’s goals in regulation and one goal in the shootout. Kayla Hindal, who had an assist, and Lakin Zimmerman added shootout goals. Riley Straight, who made 11 saves in the first game, added four saves in the second. Jenna Cantu had two saves in regulation and three saves in the shootout.

Frankenmuth’s invitation: Connor Fuller had two birdies at The Fortress at Frankenmuth to lead St. Charles with a 104. Jeffrey Cox followed with 105.
