The New York Police Department (NYPD) is expected to revoke the gun permit of former President Donald Trump, who was convicted last week of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to the payment of hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election, CNN first reported Wednesday night.
CNN added that, following the state’s practice of frequently revoking gun permits after criminal convictions, Trump’s active concealed carry permit was suspended in April 2023 following his indictment on the charges.
Details of Trump’s license, including what weapons he can carry, are not readily available due to confidentiality requirements on the application, according to the New York Daily News.
The Biden campaign released a scathing statement to NBC News about the expected revocation of gun licenses.
“Trump is speaking for himself when he tells the NRA that it will do nothing to stop convicted felons, domestic abusers and other dangerous people from getting guns,” campaign spokesman James Singer said.
