NCAA Tournament sensation Jack Gohlke has reportedly signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder and will play for the team’s summer league team, the news was confirmed by Oakland University on social media.
The 24-year-old Gohlke had a big impact during the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, leading the 14th-seeded Golden Grizzlies to an upset of No. 3 seed Kentucky in the first round. The graduate transfer finished with 32 points and 10 3-pointers in Oakland’s 80-76 victory.
The 10 three-pointers tied the all-time record in an NCAA Tournament game.
Oakland fell to eventual national semifinalist NC State, 79-73, in the next round, but Gohlke still scored 22 points on 6-of-17 3-pointers.
In his lone season with the Golden Grizzlies, Gohlke averaged 13.1 points per game and shot 38 percent from the 3-point line. Before transferring to Oakland for his final collegiate season, the guard played four seasons at Hillsdale College, averaging 14.2 points and shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the Thunder signed Gohlke to an Exhibition 10 contract, which is essentially a tryout contract and a one-year, non-guaranteed contract at the NBA minimum salary, with the option to convert it to a two-way contract, meaning a player can play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate.
The NBA Summer League will take place in Las Vegas from July 12-22.
