Odisha Election Results 2024 Live: The results for the Lok Sabha elections and the 2024 Odisha state assembly elections will be counted on Tuesday. Counting will begin at 8 am, but the results of the Odisha state elections are expected to be known by the evening of June 4.
According to the News18 Mega exit poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to win most of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha, while Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is likely to win six to eight seats. The poll also said that the BJP-led NDA is likely to win 13 to 15 of the total 21 seats in the state.
Former Union ministers Srikanth Jena and Pratap Sarangi, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda and BJD (Biju Janata Dal) leader Rajashree Malick fought fiercely for their respective seats. In Balasore, it was a three-way contest between Srikanth Jena of the Indian National Congress, Pratap Sarangi of the BJP and Rekashree Samantsinghar of the BJD.
Meanwhile, several exit polls have predicted a neck-and-neck contest between the two parties in the 2024 Odisha Assembly elections. According to India Today and Axis My India exit polls, the BJD and BJP are expected to win an equal number of seats (62-80) in the 147-seat Odisha Assembly. However, Jan Ki Baat exit polls have predicted the BJD to win 68-93 seats and the BJP to win 44-72 seats in the state.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was the front-runner winning 12 seats. While the BJP won eight seats, the Indian National Congress fared poorly, winning just one seat.
In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, the BJD won 112 seats while the BJP won 23. The Indian National Congress had won nine seats in the 2019 state elections.
Odisha voted in four phases for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections between May 13 and June 1.
