Orlando, Florida – City officials gave the final green light to Orlando’s downtown sports and entertainment district on Monday.
The sprawling 8.5-acre complex will be built next to the Kia Center at West Church Street and South Huey Avenue in downtown Orlando, and construction is expected to begin in late 2024, according to a news release. That’s what it means.
The 900,000-square-foot mixed-use project will include a hotel, 270 residential units, a 3,500-person live entertainment venue, office space, and a variety of dining and shopping options.

“With today’s approval and the leadership of Mayor Dyer and the City Council, we look forward to the next phase of the project and bringing life to the sports and entertainment district,” said Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins. “There is,” he said.
The sports and entertainment district is being developed by JMA Ventures, LLC and Machete Group, Inc. and is expected to be completed by March 2027.
“The City of Orlando has been a great partner for us since the beginning of the process, and we look forward to developing a vibrant new location in downtown Orlando,” said David Machete Group Founder and President. Carlock said.
The project is expected to create 3,400 jobs, officials said.
“This is a game-changing initiative that will energize businesses,” said Orlando City Commissioner Tony Ortiz. I will probably go back.”
