Blacksburg, Virginia – The Ohio baseball team (14-28, 9-15 MAC) lost 11-2 to Virginia Tech (31-14, 13-11 ACC) in the series finale on Sunday, May 5th.
Overall, Ohio University scored two runs on eight hits with no errors and Virginia Tech scored 11 runs on 10 hits with no errors.
Offensively, the redshirt junior nick dolan (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and Freshmen ben slanker (Canfield, Ohio) each had one hit and one RBI.Senior cole williams (Charlotte, North Carolina) led the Bobcats in hits, going 2-for-4 with one run scored.
junior blake guskey (Davenport, Iowa) took the starting mound and pitched five innings, allowing only three hits and two runs, with three strikeouts and four walks.Senior luke olson (Granville, Illinois) spent two innings on the mound, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Virginia Tech struck first, taking a 1-0 advantage early in the bottom of the first inning. The Bobcats quickly responded with two runs in the second inning. With two runners in scoring position, Slanker hit an RBI single to right field, quickly followed by Dolan’s RBI single, giving Ohio University a 2-1 lead in the second.
The scoring stopped for the Bobcats as Virginia Tech scored an additional 10 points. Ohio State lost 11-2.

The Bobcats will return to action on Wednesday, May 8th when they will take on Marshall in Huntington, Virginia. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN+.
