Norman — University of Oklahoma senior shortstop Tiare Jennings has been selected as one of the 10 finalists for the 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, the organization announced Wednesday.
The top 25 finalists will be narrowed down to three players on May 20, after which the 2024 USA Softball College Player of the Year will be announced before the NCAA Women’s College World Series.

Jennings led OU in NCAA Regionals with 19 home runs, 57 RBIs and 13 doubles, and is the only Sooner to start all 55 games this season.
She hit .368/.462/.798 with a 1.260 OPS and scored 46 runs while getting walks on 15.6 percent. As a position player, Jennings played 323.0 of the Sooners’ 338.0 innings as a shortstop, converting 157 of 159 chances and posting a .987 fielding percentage with only 2 errors.
Throughout the 2024 season, the All-Big 12 first-team selection set a new OU career doubles record (62) while also recording both 300 hits and 300 RBIs. She is three home runs away from being third on the NCAA all-time list and needs three RBIs to rank in the NCAA top five for her career.
Recent Sooners players who won the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award are: Jocelyn Allo Alo also received this award in 2021.
