The University of Portland does not have a football team; it has not had one since 1950. The Pilots have made two NCAA Tournament appearances in basketball but failed to win either time, their last appearance coming in 1996, the school’s only West Coast Conference Tournament victory.
The Vikings competed in the Big Sky in football and made two appearances in the Division I-AA playoffs, their best season coming in 1988 when they lost to North Dakota State in the Division II national championship game.
The Vikings have made consecutive NCAA Tournaments in 2008 and 2009, their only two appearances to date, and they have also made two appearances in the College Insider Tournament.
