NEW YORK (WABC) — In this edition of Eyewitness News, we examine the growing turmoil within the Miss USA organization as more contestants and past winners resign. ABC political correspondent Rick Klein joins the show to provide his outlook on the upcoming presidential debate between President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump. He also discusses the former commander’s defense attorney trying to discredit Michael Cohen in court.
Concerns have been raised about the Miss USA organization, especially after 2023 winner Noelia Voigt relinquished her crown, citing mental health issues. Miss Teen USA champion Umasofia Srivastava, 17, also submitted her resignation, saying the organization no longer aligns with her personal values.
Both women claim they were subjected to toxic work conditions, but details are not available due to confidentiality agreements.
Former Miss New York USA Tatiana Diaz joined the show to talk about her experience within the organization.

Michael Cohen grills again
Donald Trump’s lawyers had one goal in mind as they continued their scathing cross-examination of his former fixer. It was to portray him as someone who could not be trusted.
Mr. Cohen was questioned about secret recordings of numerous individuals, including former presidents. He admitted to recording 95 conversations with various people. The hush money that Stormy Daniels was to be paid was also apparently one of the topics discussed on the tape.

ABC’s Rick Klein stopped by the show after Donald Trump and Joe Biden agreed to face off in a presidential debate ahead of the November election. The two sides are scheduled to debate twice, in July and September.
