New Delhi,Updated: May 9, 2024 20:04 (IST)

Pakistan cricket authorities breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday after the Irish consulate granted Mohammad Amir a visa. Amir is likely to join the squad ahead of the second T20I in Dublin on May 12. The first of the three T20Is will be played on Friday. Clontaff Ground.

PCB officials said the board has been informed about Amir’s visa clearance and is making travel arrangements for the left-arm pacer. While Amir is currently staying in Lahore, the rest of the team left for Dublin for the series on Tuesday (May 7). After several days of deadlock, a breakthrough was finally reached following talks between the Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket Ireland over delays in issuing Amir’s visa. The PCB did not provide any specific reason for the delay in issuing Amir’s visa by the Irish Consulate General.

However, officials said the delay was caused by technical issues, which have now been resolved.

“Obviously the PCB was unhappy with the visa delay because it affects the team management plans for the (T20) World Cup and the impact of returning to international cricket after four years since retirement. This is because it will affect the players as well,” the official said. . After the series against Ireland, Pakistan will travel to England to play four T20Is, starting with Leeds on May 22. Interestingly, Amir was quickly granted a visa to play in the first Test match between Ireland and Pakistan in 2018.
