Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow and condemnation over the loss of innocent lives in the terrorist shooting at Bondi Beach, Sydney, on December 14, 2025, in a meeting today with newly appointed Australian High Commissioner Tim Kane.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Australia during this period of grief, saying terrorism has no religion and must be condemned in all forms. He also emphasised the need for collective action to eliminate the threat of terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment and expressed confidence that his tenure would strengthen the enduring relations between Pakistan and Australia.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.

Welcoming the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Australia relations, PM Shehbaz emphasised the need to expand bilateral trade and investment and expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in the agriculture and livestock sectors. He noted Australian interest in the mining and minerals sector and cited Reko Diq as an example of potential opportunities in Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of strong cultural and bilateral ties between Pakistan and Australia, particularly their shared passion for cricket.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to the Australian leadership and said he looked forward to further strengthening ties between the two countries.
