Pakistan and China on Sunday expressed their determination to further strengthen and improve cooperation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Ishak Dar and Zheng Jianbang, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO), the two met on the sidelines of the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Islamic Summit held in Gambia.
The spokesperson said both sides emphasized the importance of “enhancing mutual productivity through close economic cooperation.”
They also “reaffirmed the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China” and discussed deepening exchanges between Pakistan’s parliament and China’s National People’s Congress.
The statement also said that the two countries “expressed their determination to further strengthen and improve cooperation in CPEC projects” during the talks.
The two leaders also discussed the growing relationship between China and the OIC, and emphasized the importance of dialogue and understanding for mutual peace and prosperity.
