Pakistan arrive in Dublin for T20I series against Ireland without Mohammed Amir

The Pakistan cricket team arrived in Dublin on Wednesday, May 8, ahead of their three-match T20I series against Ireland. Babar Azam’s side will face Ireland in three T20Is in the city on May 10, 12 and 14 respectively. Pakistan Cricket shared an update with their fans on their X handle along with a video capturing the entire team’s journey from Lahore.

Star players Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Mohammed Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi were seen in great spirits during the long journey from Lahore with a stopover in Dubai. Series head coach Azhar Mahmood and chief selector Wahab Riaz were also seen accompanying the team.

Meanwhile, star left-arm seamer Mohamed Amir Due to visa issues, I have not yet arrived in Dublin. According to a PTI report, Amir along with his teammates applied for an Irish visa. However, he has yet to receive it while his teammates are in Dublin.

With three T20Is to be played in four days, there is a possibility that he may not play in any of the three matches of the tour due to delays in issuing visas to the Pakistan speedster. Remarkably, the 32-year-old recently came out of retirement to play for his country again since August 2020.

Pakistan’s packed schedule ahead of 2024 T20 World Cup

Amir made his comeback in the recently concluded four-match T20I series against New Zealand, taking three wickets from three matches with a best performance of 2/13 in four overs in the second T20I. The Punjab-born cricketer, who has played 54 T20Is in his career so far, is most likely to feature in the 2024 T20 World Cup as well.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will next face England in a four-match T20I series starting May 22. After that, Pakistan’s opening game will be against the United States. T20 World Cup 2024. The 2009 champions are in Group A with Canada, Ireland, the United States and arch-rivals India, with a much-anticipated matchup scheduled for June 9 in New York.
