ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan has asked its nationals in Kyrgyzstan to stay indoors after a mob attacked foreigners in the capital Friday night over a dispute with migrants, the foreign ministry said Saturday. Announced.

According to local media, the violence began following clashes between Kyrgyzstans and foreigners in Bishkek last week.

The ministry said in a statement that the Pakistani embassy in Bishkek is in contact with the Kyrgyz government to ensure the safety and security of its citizens following Friday night’s violence in the city of Bishkek. It said some of the injured Pakistani students were treated at a local hospital in Bishkek.

“The Government of Pakistan takes the issue of safety and security of its citizens around the world very seriously and will take all necessary measures to ensure the health of its citizens,” the statement added.

Pakistan on Saturday summoned Kyrgyzstan’s diplomats to protest the violence against its people.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed concern over the attacks on Pakistani students. He said in his statement that he would immediately dispatch members of his cabinet to Bishkek to oversee efforts to ensure the health of students injured in the attack.

Sharif added that all assistance will be provided to those who wish to return from Bishkek.

Pakistani authorities said they could not confirm whether any of their nationals were killed in the attack.

Thousands of Pakistanis study and work in Kyrgyzstan.
