ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration in the legal and judicial sectors. The agreement was formalised during an official visit to Baku by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, according to an official release.

The MoU, signed between the Ministry of Law and Justice of Pakistan and the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, establishes a framework for cooperation in areas such as legal reform, institutional exchange, and the rule of law.

During the visit, Tarar met with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov. Both sides emphasised the growing role of legal diplomacy in advancing mutual interests and enhancing bilateral relations. He also held detailed discussions with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice, His Excellency Farid Ahmadov, focusing on legal modernisation and the exchange of institutional expertise.

In a separate meeting with Azerbaijan’s Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Inam Karimov, the two sides discussed judicial reform, digitalisation of court systems, and improved dispute resolution mechanisms.

The signed MoU outlines cooperation in the promotion of alternative dispute resolution, digital transformation of legal services, and the sharing of legal knowledge and best practices. Both Pakistan and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional ties and working together to support ongoing justice sector reforms.
