LAHORE: Pakistan beat hosts Uzbekistan 3-0 to earn their second successive victory in the World U-19 Volleyball Championship in Tashkent on Friday.

Pakistan, who had defeated Belgium in the opening match of the pool stage on Thursday, downed Uzbekistan 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Pakistan scored 75 points, in which 45 came from attacking, 12 from blocking and two from ace serves, while the opponents gave 16 points due to their errors.

Mohammad Yahya led the scoreboard with 24 points, Mohammad Saud added 10 points while Muhtad Ali Shah and Ajmal Junaid contributed nine points each.

Pakistan’s head coach Saeed Ahmed Khan Sady praised his team’s composure and discipline.

“Our boys showed tremendous maturity and confidence on the court today. Beating the host team is never easy, but our players remained focused and executed the game plan with precision,” the coach said after the match.

In their next pool match, Pakistan play Turkey on Saturday.
