ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan on Friday strongly criticised India for sponsoring terrorism on Pakistani soil and its failure to adhere to the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in sharing flood-related data.

Foreign office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, in a weekly briefing, said that India conveyed some flood-related information through diplomatic channels, but it did not provide complete data and did not follow the agreed mechanisms under the IWT.

The spokesperson reiterated that India is actively involved in sponsoring terrorism within the country. He claimed that Islamabad has already shared ‘documented evidence’ of Indian involvement with both the international community and friendly nations.

“India’s role in fueling terrorism inside Pakistan is well-documented and has been shared at the global level,” Khan stated.

He also urged the Afghan government to take meaningful steps against terrorist groups ‘operating from Afghan soil’. “Safe havens for terrorists still exist in Afghanistan,” he warned. “Pakistan knows how to protect its people and its territory.”

The comments follow a recent border operation by Pakistani forces, aimed at neutralising threats emanating from across the frontier.

“Afghanistan must make sure its soil is not used against Pakistan,” the spokesperson added.

Commenting on the issue of Afghan migrants, the spokesperson expressed concern over statements by the German Foreign Ministry and called for urgent action.

“Germany must ensure that Afghan citizens awaiting resettlement are evacuated from Pakistan as soon as possible,” said Khan.

The FO also issued a strong condemnation of Israeli military actions in Khan Younis, Gaza, particularly attacks on hospitals and journalists.

“Israel continues to commit gross human rights violations,” said the spokesperson, adding that targeting civilian infrastructure and media is highly condemnable.

Pakistan also denounced Israel’s recent aggression in Yemen, reaffirming its support for the internationally recognised government led by Rashad al-Alimi in Aden.

“Pakistan continues to condemn Israeli attempts to destabilise the region,” he added.
