Pakistan cricket team is struggling in the T20 World Cup 2024. After losing their first two matches against USA and India, Pakistan finally recorded their first win in the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating Canada on Tuesday. Still, Pakistan is not in a safe zone. USA is in a favorable position over Pakistan cricket team. Babar Azam and team will be hoping that the results of other Pakistani teams will go in their favor and they will have a chance to qualify for the Super 8.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Saleem Malik accused Imad Wasim of deliberately wasting the ball while talking about the team’s loss to India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Chasing a disappointing target of 120 runs, the Pakistan batsman consumed 59 dot balls to be restricted to 113 for seven in New York on Sunday. Wasim needed 23 balls to score 15 runs in the defeat. “If you look at his (Wasim’s) innings, it looks like he was wasting the ball without scoring runs and making it difficult for them to chase runs,” Malik told 24 News channel.
Former Australian wicketkeeper and batsman Adam Gilchrist criticised the comments. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif shared Gilchrist’s video and wrote, “Adam Gilchrist finds it ironic that a convicted match-fixer like Salim Malik is accusing Imad Wasim of ‘deliberately underperforming’ against India. The former Pakistan cricketer is an international embarrassment.”
