Panama received 183 votes in Latin America and the Caribbean, while Denmark received 184 votes and Greece 182 votes in Western Europe and the Rest of the World.

“It is a proud moment for Pakistan to be elected to the UN Security Council for the term 2025-26 with an overwhelming 182 votes,” Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted on X.

He said Pakistan looked forward to working with the international community to address pressing global challenges. “We will continue to play our role in promoting peace, stability and cooperation among nations,” he said.

Elected for the eighth time as a non-permanent member, Pakistan said it “looks forward to working closely with other members of the UN Security Council and the broader UN membership in upholding the UN Charter, pursuing its vision of preventing war and promoting peace, fostering international cooperation for global prosperity and advancing universal respect for human rights.”

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan looks forward to remaining committed to the vision of the UN Charter to prevent war and promote peace, foster global prosperity and promote universal respect for human rights.

“We are determined to contribute effectively to the maintenance of international peace and security, in line with our mandate in the UN Security Council,” he said in a post on X.
