New Delhi [India],: Pakistan seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi “misbehaved” with the Men in Green coach during his appearance at the T20 World Cup 2024, fGeo News reported.

The report found that Afridi had behaved inappropriately towards the coaches and administrative staff of the Pakistan cricket team.

Geo News further said that investigations were underway into why no action was taken by the management staff against the 24-year-old player for his inappropriate behaviour.

News of Afridi’s misconduct against the coaching staff came to light after former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz broke his silence on being left out of the national selection committee set up by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Wednesday that it had informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their role in setting up the national selection committees was unnecessary. Abdul Razzaq was part of the men’s and women’s selection committees, while Wahab was a selector for the men’s team.

The statement from the PCB comes after Pakistan suffered early exit in the group stage in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to the USA and India.

After being removed from the committee, Riaz wrote to X, “I have a lot to say but I don’t want to get involved in the blame game.”

Along with his post to X, he also shared a letter which read, “My term as a member of the PCB selection committee is coming to an end. I just want the nation to know that I have dedicated myself to the sport I love with conviction and sincerity and have given my 100 per cent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.”

“Everyone’s vote carried equal weight, we made the selection decisions as a team and shared the responsibility of the process equally. It was an honour to have contributed to it,” he added.

He also said it has been an honor to support head coach Gary Karsten and the rest of the coaching staff in their vision for the team.

“With the team plan put together by my coaching team, I am confident that this team will continue to dominate in the future. I wish them all the best on the journey. I would like to thank those who have prayed for me. I wish the Pakistan cricket team all the best in the future,” he concluded.

Pakistan have also confirmed a restructuring of their selection committee, the details of which will be announced soon. Wahab served as chief selector before returning as one of the seven members of the men’s selection committee. The former fast bowler has also toured the T20 World Cup with the Pakistan team as senior team manager.
