Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, during a meeting with Tajikistan’s Culture Minister Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Tajikistan in digital media. Amonzoda is in Islamabad for the two-day Pakistan-Tajik Cultural Festival at Lok Virsa from December 19 to 20.

Tarar said digital media was an important tool for public engagement and cultural outreach.

Both sides stressed the need to further promote cultural and media cooperation and to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

They also agreed to work on formal cultural cooperation agreements ahead of a possible visit by Tajikistan’s president to Pakistan.

Tarar said events like the Pakistan-Tajik Cultural Festival helped build cultural links. He also noted the longstanding historical and cultural ties shared by the two states.

He added that Pakistan attached importance to cultural diplomacy.

Amonzoda said Tajikistan would continue cooperation with Pakistan in cultural exchanges and digital media, adding that shared literary and cultural heritage would be highlighted to support bilateral ties.

The inaugural ceremony of the cultural festival was attended by Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Tajik Ambassador Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir and other officials, diplomats and artists.
