Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that Pakistan had taught India a “lesson it will remember for life” during Marka-e-Haq, as he addressed UK-based Pakistani journalists in London.
Marka-e-Haq refers to Pakistan’s military operation, officially named Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, launched in May 2025 in response to Indian aggression. It concluded with what was described as a “decisive victory for Pakistan”, as the armed forces repelled adversaries with discipline and strategic clarity.
The government hailed it as a “magnificent success” and later declared May 10 to be observed annually as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq to honour the armed forces’ performance and sacrifices during the conflict.

According to the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan, the PM talked about Pakistan’s defence cooperation with Saudi Arabia, clarifying that the pact was “not against anybody” but a reflection of decades of trust between the two nations.
Under the agreement, he said, an “attack on one country would be treated as an attack on the other”, with both responding through mutual consultation.
The premier underlined close civil-military coordination, noting that he regularly consults the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on all matters of national interest, including foreign policy.

Shehbaz described his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC as “highly productive and constructive,” adding that Trump had assured him of advancing bilateral economic cooperation.
On the economic front, he said Pakistan had achieved macroeconomic stability and was pushing for growth despite the devastation caused by recent floods.
He cited government efforts aimed at poverty alleviation, reducing unemployment, attracting investment and tapping potential in agriculture, information technology and minerals. “Friendly countries are ready to extend full support to Pakistan in harnessing its natural resources,” he added.
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to wiping out terrorism, stressing that the sacrifices of the country’s security forces would always be remembered. He also said he had raised the plight of the Kashmiri and Palestinian people at the United Nations (UN).

Just before speaking to overseas Pakistanis at the Pakistan High Commission in London, the premier said the achievements of his government were the result of “sincerity, hard work and team effort.”
He stressed that the government was now focused on sustaining growth, attracting investment, reducing unemployment and tapping into key sectors such as agriculture, information technology and minerals.
He also highlighted his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), saying he had raised the voices of the Kashmiri and Palestinian people on the world stage. He added that the suffering in Gaza represented oppression and brutality “never seen before in the world,” but expressed hope that the summit of Arab-Islamic leaders chaired by US President Donald Trump would produce encouraging results.
