Breaking with the tradition of announcing international series at the last minute, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the men’s team will play nine Test matches, 14 ODIs and nine T20Is in the 2024/25 season, including a high-profile series against England.

Pakistan are scheduled to host England for three Test matches in October this year and also tour Bangladesh and the West Indies.

“These series are a key part of our strategy to strengthen Pakistan’s position in international cricket and ensure the long-term sustainability of the sport in our country,” PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said.

Bangladesh will play two Test matches in Rawalpindi (August 21-25) and Karachi (August 30-September 3) to kick off the international season which will conclude with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final scheduled for March 9, the PCB said in a statement.

Pakistan will face England in three Test matches in Multan (October 7-11), Karachi (October 15-19) and Rawalpindi (October 24-28), while the West Indies will face England in two Test matches in Karachi (January 16-20) and Multan (January 24-28).

In addition to these, there will also be a three-match series involving New Zealand and South Africa as a prelude to next year’s Champions Trophy, which will be held in Multan (8-14 February).

During this period, Pakistan will visit Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa from November 4 to January 7 and play nine ODIs, nine T20Is and two Tests.

Bangladesh will be visiting Pakistan for the first time since 2020, while England visited Pakistan in December 2022 and won the three-match series 3-0.

The West Indies have not played a Test series in Pakistan since 2006.

The PCB also announced that the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) will be held in April/May to avoid any clash with the Champions Trophy schedule.

Since its inception in 2016, the PSL has usually been scheduled between February and March.

The nine Test matches against Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies will be part of the ICC World Test Championship from 2023-25.

“This will enable both the men’s cricket team management and PCB events staff to prepare, plan and deliver these series in ample time to the very highest expectations and standards, showcasing Pakistan as a great cricketing nation and the PCB as a fully professional organisation,” Naqvi added.

He said Pakistan appreciated the willingness of these teams to visit the country.
