Pakistan trio make quarters at ITF Juniors – Sport

ISLAMABAD: Pakis­tan players Nadir Mirza, Amir Mazari, and Abuba­kar Talha moved into the boys’ singles quarter-finals of the ITF Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Mem­orial World Juniors Tennis Championship here at the PTF Complex on Tuesday.

Nadir outclassed China’s Yupei Liang 6-1, 6-0, Abubakar defeated Artem Khusanov of Uzbekistan 7-6(3), 6-2 while Amir overcame compatriot Shehryar Anees 6-1, 6-3 in their respective second-round matches.

A total of 38 boys and 21 girls from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Turkey, Japan, China, Austria, Uzbekistan, UK, Canada, Russia, Sweden, South Korea and Sri Lanka are participating in the championships.

Girls’ singles: Alissa Korolyova (Kazakhstan) bt Zohan Feng (China) 6-3, 6-0; Nana Okawa (Japan) bt Malika Bolatova (Kazakhstan) 1-6, 6-2, 6-3; Serife Pelibn Sari (Turkiye) bt Da Eun Lee (Korea) 6-1, 6-2; Sofiya Malysheva (Kazakhstan) bt Samira Kamalova (Uzbekistan) 6-1, 6-0; Dicle Izgi (Turkiye) bt Soha Ali (Pakistan) 6-4, 6-2; Seo Hee Jeon (Korea) bt Amna Ali Qayum (Pakistan) 6-2, 6-2; Yelizaveta Slepchenko (Kazakhstan) bt Rino Shinden (Japan) 6-1, 6-4; Haniya Aman Minhas (Saudi Arabia) bt Xinru Zhong (China) 6-0, 6-1.
