Delhi Police on Saturday said they had arrested a 54-year-old employee of the Pakistan High Commission in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, for allegedly molesting another employee at the diplomatic residence. The incident took place in the Tilak Marg area on June 28 and an FIR was filed last week.
The suspect, a Pakistani national who worked as a cook at the diplomatic residence, is believed to have been deported to Pakistan and his current whereabouts are unknown, police added.
The victim, meanwhile, works as a domestic help at the diplomat’s residence. She hails from Delhi and was residing in the servant’s quarters in the building. Police said she had approached the diplomat’s family about the incident on June 28. “She alleged that the accused had sexually harassed her and tried to force himself on her but she resisted,” said an officer with knowledge of the case.

As the incident occurred before the new code came into force, a case was filed under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the woman’s complaint. The accused was arrested at Tilak Marg police station under sections relating to molestation.
“It has been learnt that the suspect came to India from Pakistan in February. We have information that he has been deported to Pakistan following a complaint but this is yet to be confirmed. We will be questioning diplomats and other witnesses at the Pakistan High Commission,” the investigator added.
Police are also investigating whether the suspect has diplomatic immunity and have written to a senior police officer seeking his details. “We cannot disclose details… We are still investigating the matter,” another officer said, adding.
