Pakistani spy arrested in Gujarat: Police

Police on Thursday said they have arrested a man on suspicion of spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies in Gujarat’s Bharuch district.

According to the Gujarat Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the accused, Pravin Mishra, is suspected of collecting confidential information about the Indian Army and defense-related research and development companies.

The CID started the investigation following a tip-off from the Military Intelligence Bureau in Udhampur.

Mishra, a resident of Ankleshwar in Bharuch district and a native of Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, communicated with Pakistani intelligence agents through Whatsapp calls and voice chats “to carry out a criminal conspiracy against the country that may have serious implications for its security.” The CID announced that they had been in contact. In release.

“It has come to light that the information was being transmitted to an intelligence agency located in Pakistan,” the CID said in a statement.

The paper said a case has been registered against Mishra and a Pakistani operative who used an Indian WhatsApp number and a fake Facebook ID named ‘Sonal Garg’.

“The case has also been registered against the officers/employees involved in the criminal conspiracy who were in touch with the operatives on their WhatsApp numbers,” the release added.

Military intelligence agencies have access to sensitive information by current or retired employees of the Armed Forces, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and personnel associated with research and development for the development of missile systems. It alerted CID that it was being used. C.I.D. said.

It added that further investigations were ongoing.
